Resveratrol is a well known chemical found in the skin of the red grapes that are supposed to have a few immensely benefiting advantages. Currently these have shown the features of anti-cancer and also can lower the blood pressure. However, all these tastes have proved to be right in mice and rats and in some other organisms. The Resveratrol is still to be proved on humans and theirs still a speck of doubt if the element would have the similar kind of effects on mankind. In reply to many media reports about the element Resveratrol it only looks like each and every supplement company offers one or the other form of grape complex so as to makes a quick buck. The supplement as released by these companies all claim to contain a certain percentage of Resveratrol and thus this justifies the popularity of the same.

If you do not know much about Resveratrol, it would be better to start with the basics. Resveratrol has been identified as a protective element found naturally in certain plants, their fruits, stalks and vines. In these plants, Resveratrol acts as a shield and provides protection against diseases and infections caused by bacteria, funguses and other harmful pathogens. The grape plant has been identified as having the highest Resveratrol content. The overall content is however more in red wine in comparison to that found in grape juice. Thats because the fermentation process dramatically increase the overall Resveratrol content. White wine, in comparison, has only limited Resveratrol content since the outer skin of grapes is removed before starting the fermentation process for making white wine.

This effect has also been fruitful only after higher doses of Resveratrol in a formulation of proprietary were used on the subject. Several experiments have revealed that the treatment through Resveratrol have displayed extended life spans for organisms like nematode worms, fruit flies, and also of various short living fishes. The same result was not attained when tested on mice, thereby proving the fact that it still needs proper experimentation before complete utilization. Resveratrol is found primarily in the red grapes skin and interestingly it is a constituent of the very popular red wine.

Very recently Life Extension have come up with the reports that all these experimental animal studies were conducted by a certain company called BioMarker Pharmaceuticals and these experiments did undergo the procedures that used exactly the same amount of grape extract that was duly fortified with Resveratrol currently used by the members of this particular foundation. Most of these studies were mainly made so as to evaluate the primary gene-expression response in the mice fed with Resveratrol.

This particular gene-expression information that was thus collected was simply compared to the info that was got from a group of animals which was subjected to a particular caloric restriction. A favorable pattern of this gene expression was seen to exist between the mice fed with grape extract and between the mice that were restricted by calorie.
