Are Stretch Mark Creams Any Good?
Stretch marks are a common problem among a majority of women and girls. They occur when the tissues underneath the skin are suddenly pulled or stretched, as a result of sudden growth, rapid weight loss or weight gain and pregnancy. They are also common among adolescent girls and even boys, due to sudden growth spurts around their age. Stretch marks are often very difficult to get rid of.
Stretch marks do fade a little over time, but they usually do not completely disappear without assistance from effective stretch mark creams or expensive dermatology treatments (eg laser therapy, microdermabrasion treatment, etc).
Even though human skin is fairly elastic, when it is overstretched such as during times of rapid growth resulting from pregnancy, rapid weight changes or growth spurts, the normal production of collagen is disrupted. Collagen is the main protein which makes the connective tissue in your skin. As a result of the disruption, white scars, or stretch marks will appear. These white or pinkish/purplish pigments will stand out from the rest of your skin.
Removing stretch marks involves patience and determination in applying effective creams to the affected areas, as well as applying a little extra pressure when massaging the cream into the affected area for increased absorption as well as adding pliability to the area. It also improves circulation which will help to regulate pigmentation back to its normal state. You should see significant improvement in the marks and coloration after a few weeks of following this technique when apply proven cream.
The best natural stretch mark creams in the product today have are very effective in increasing the skins elasticity and thus preventing and treating stretch marks from their root cause, which is the lack of elasticity and sudden stretching or trauma. If you are not convinced, I encourage you to do a little research of your own on stretch mark remedies, and I believe you will find pictures of people who have tried proven creams with outstanding results.
Some common suggestions to improve the appearance of stretch marks are typically to undergo expensive and lengthy therapies advised by your dermatologist. Although they help to lessen the appearance of stretch marks or ‘blend them’ with the rest of your skin rather than remain hyper-pigmented or not pigmented at all.
There is also a another common suggestion of using self tanners to cover up the areas with stretch marks, while this does improve the overall appearance, it does not attack the problem specifically. It only covers up or hides stretch marks temporarily, so it’s similar to treating the symptom instead of the disease itself!
