Eczema symptoms are fairly common. Right now there are no know cures for eczema however, natural old home remedies for eczema have been found to be effective in treating the condition. Symptoms of eczema include redness, dryness, itchiness, blisters, inflammation, and scaly or flaky skin. These symptoms can cover small areas or large areas of the body; they can also present as mile or moderate or extreme.

Causes of this skin condition are unknown however it is known that certain events trigger eczema. Triggers include foods; allergic reactions not just to foods but also to metals and chemicals; hay fever; asthma; poor management of stress; bad circulation; other infections; sweating excessively; and more (particularly environmental conditions). Eczema is not contagious through touch, even though some types of eczema can spread on your own body if scratched. With the large number of triggers or causes of eczema, medical researchers have been unable to find a cure. However a number of treatments are available; both commercial treatments and old home remedies.

The commercial treatments available for those suffering with eczema include antibiotics, steroid creams and lotions, and UV radiation. These treatments do have side effects, some of which are potentially serious (particularly if used over long periods of time).

You can use natural old home remedies for eczema. Some of these include: salt soaks, white vinegar soaks, evening primrose oil, olive oil, lavender oil, plantain, aloe vera. It is also very important to wash the affected area with cool water (no hot water as it aggravates the condition), dry thoroughly and apply a no-alcohol, no-water moisturizer.

Be proactive, and take preventative measures. Find out what are your eczema triggers? Are you genetically pre-disposed to eczema? Then work to contain the symptoms as soon as they appear. Do you have allergies that trigger eczema? Are you allergic to bananas? Or grass? Do you react to metals; in particular, the metal nickel which is used in computer parts and appears to be a common allergen. Do you have eczema flare-ups more often when youre under more stress?
