Eczema is a very itchy skin disorder that affects many people. This immune disorder has no cure and is often heredity. If there is no true cure for it, how do you go about healing it? The trick to healing eczema is to stop it before its symptoms start.
Eczema is dry skin that itches and the obligatory scratching that accompanies it. Unfortunately all of that scratching can cause inflammation and irritation. This mixture of itching and irritation is quite maddening for most people. In addition, the skin can even become infected, and that infection can be spread by scratching.
Two types of eczema are contact eczema and atopic eczema. Most people suffer from contact eczema most commonly known as contact dermatitis. Contact eczema happens when the skin touches an irritant. Atopic eczema, another common form, can also occur with internal changes or internal allergens. Atopic eczema is typically inherited from a family member.
It is important to avoid eczema, especially if it is hereditary. Keeping you skin moist is one way to prevent symptoms. Another way is to avoid allergens and irritants. Managing stress and maintaining good nutrition may also prevent occurrences of eczema.
Allergens such as peanuts, whole milk, wheat, soy, and eggs and trigger eczema attacks in some people. Synthetic fabrics and wool may also irritate the skin and trigger an attack. Surprisingly enough, the skins own sweat has been an irritant to some people. Wearing cotton fabrics, avoiding common allergens and staying cool is important prevention.
Many people recognize eczema by its dry skin. Harsh, drying soaps are frequently the cause of this dry skin. It is very easy to irritate dry skin. Furthermore, irritated dry skin can easily become infected which is an even bigger problem. Proper moisturizer is important prevention for someone with eczema.
Bacterial, viral, or fungal infections can be part of eczema, so good nutrition and stress management is vital. Poor nutrition and high stress increase risk of infection. Stress has also been directly linked to eczema attacks! Eating well and living a calm life can keep you eczema free.
There are some supplements that can help prevent eczema. B vitamins assist in reducing inflammation. Antioxidants can fight infections caused by eczema scratching and other sources. Omega 3 fats help keep the skin moisturized.
There is no true cure for eczema. The closest solution is to stop the itch in order to stop the scratching. Even then, there may be many reasons why you are itching! These four tricks may stop the itch and heal the infection which is a good start to a cure.
