The cosmetics and skin care and anti aging industry is are massive and make billions every year. There are lots of US women looking for solutions to looking younger and looking good, and plenty of big companies that take advantage of this.

It’s a shame but many skin care and anti aging products really do very little. Unfortunately the cosmetics and skin care and anti aging industries are unregulated in the US and the companies can put just about anything they want in their products without proving that they work, and even without showing that the ingredients are safe for people to use.

Consequently there’s many anti aging skin care products that don’t work well and can have ingredients that are known to be dangerous.

But even so there are massive numbers of skin care and anti aging products sold and advertised for their ability to make your skin look younger and you look great.

1. Don’t buy skin care and anti aging products with fragrances. Now we all like to smell good, and the big companies know that so use fragrances. Look younger and smell good at the same time.

But there’s 2 problems. Firstly it’s unlikely that the skin care cream you’re buying will do very much to make you look younger.

And secondly, fragrances are chemicals and not good to put on your skin. And it’s exactly the same with perfumes, but with a perfume you only use a little here and there, but with a skin care cream you apply much more.

2. Don’t buy anti aging creams with collagen in them. Now this at first glance appears counterintuitive doesn’t it? Just about everyone knows that the loss of collagen in your skin leads to skin sagging and wrinkles so getting more collagen in your skin must be good.

Well yes and no. It is important to replace lost collagen but molecules of collagen are too big to penetrate the skin so putting collagen in the bottle doesn’t do anything, other than perhaps making you feel good.

But you can increase the levels of collagen in the skin by stimulating the skin to produce more of it’s own collagen.

Why do you see collagen in the bottle and why too is that well-known big-time movie star in the advertisements telling you how much younger she looks? That’s because the companies that make these skin care products know that if people see collagen listed on the label they’ll buy the products.

Even if it doesn’t do anything for you. Even if the ingredients can be suspect. It will sell.

That’s marketing.

But there is a problem. It costs megabucks to pay that celebrity to go on TV and tell you how great the products are, and those fancy bottles cost a lot.

So the anti aging skin care treatment that really doesn’t do much costs a bomb too. That’s alrright because most people think that if it’s expensive it’s got to be good. So they pay anyway.

Should you give up on anti aging skin care products because you think they don’t work? No. Surprisingly there are very good anti aging skin care products that work well, are reasonably priced and also use known safe ingredients.

These products are not made by the big companies but by small niche skin care companies you won’t have heard of. They don’t spend a fortune on expensive TV advertising so you’ve probably never heard of them, but equally you’ll find that their products are very recently priced.
