There are three kinds of indoor tanning lotion. Each lotion works differently to achieve the same result in slightly different ways. Basically the lotions are to help during the indoor tanning process. Accelerators, bronzers, and tingle lotions are the three main types of indoor tanning lotions.

Accelerators are the most common of tanning lotions. Then we have the bronzer which is simply a formula used to add color to the skin immediately. The color is a fake tan of course but the instant results allows some beginners to appear more tan than they already are if they are self conscious about being too pale.

The functional purpose of a bronzer is that the increased coloration of the skin absorbs light and distributes it differently than if the skin did not have anything on it. This helps the even out the result of the tan.

Each individual tans differently and that is why it is important to know what to look for when trying to pick the best tanning lotion. Consulting the people at a tanning salon will tell you a lot about what indoor tanning lotion is right the situation. After that it is a matter of trial and error until you get it right.
